Today’s bad actors leverage digital prowess to intimidate and execute crimes, presenting unique threats to companies and corporate executives alike. However, through applied protections and threat intelligence, companies can be alerted to dangerous “personal data leaks” and mitigate risks proactively. InfraGard Atlanta is dedicated to empowering businesses with the security intelligence capabilities needed to protect people, assets, and operations to disrupt advanced persistent threats (APT).
Education provided by InfraGard Atlanta Executive Leadership and Sponsors’ education-focused presentations will provide steps for identification, mitigation, and appropriate countermeasures to today’s top threats impacting our nation’s critical infrastructure.
1:00 - 1:15pm Southeast region welcome & introductions:
1:15 - 2:00pm Session 1 Rapid 7
How can you detect and respond to modern threats? In this presentation, Rapid7 will discuss the evolution of threats, including how they've changed and (just as important) how they haven't changed. Speakers will also provide strategies for building and operating an effective response force to help protect your organization, with specific tools and techniques.
SPEAKER: Jeremiah Dewey is Vice President and lead of the Managed Services Delivery Practice at Rapid7. His team partners with global customers for security operations (i.e., detection and response, vulnerability management, application security) and to deliver security consulting services (penetration testing and incident response). Prior to joining Rapid7, Jeremiah worked with multiple organizations building and leading security programs in the government and in the private sector
2:00 - 3:00pm Session 2 CORL - Your Health Held Hostage: What Ransomware Means for Patients
Hospitals, as well as smaller medical practices and outpatient facilities, have been the victims of large-scale ransomware attacks since 2016. These attacks have ramped up in recent months as a lucrative business model for cybercriminals and appear to have no end in sight. The adverse impacts from ransomware to patients can range from inconveniences for rescheduling appointments to delays in critical care and treatment. This module will spotlight lawsuits citing pediatric and adult patient deaths that were brought on, in part, by ransomware outages at hospitals.
SPEAKER: Maliha Charania & Morgan Hague. Ms. Charania is a seasoned information security and risk management consultant with over 13 years of experience in matters of IT security and compliance for many healthcare providers, business associates, payers, and other institutes of varying sizes and across the world. Morgan leads planning and scoping of audit engagements, ITRM consulting, and risk assessments through developing sections of applicable programs at Meditology, conducting audit fieldwork using observation, substantiation of issues, research, interviews, detailed testing, documentation review, and data analysis.
